So in love with my Kindle!!

I live outside of the United States and books in English are hard to come by. Every time i go to the states i can only bring so many books back with me and it only takes me so long to get through them and then i'm stuck waiting for my next trip until i have new stuff to read. I've used the kindle for PC program but it is not comfortable to sit in front of a computer for that long and even less comfortable to read for any extended period from an LCD screen. I had debated getting a kindle for the last couple years but when amazon lowered the price to 189 i decided to go for it. I was a little bummed when two weeks after receiving my kindle they came out with a new version and lowered the price on the kindle 2. But that doesn't change my satisfaction with the product.

I've had my kindle for two weeks now and i'm so in love with it i'm thinking about naming it! Before getting it i was concerned that the 6 inch screen would be too tiny but it's actually just about a paragraph shorter than the pages of most printed books, so it turned out not to be a problem. In fact, i think i actually like it better; i've never been a fan of novels with large pages anyway.
Another thing i thought i would miss was the gratification you get from being able to see how far through the book you are. With the kindle when you're reading there is a bar on the bottom that tells what percent of the book you have covered. Very nice feature, it helps it feel more like a regular book.

The kindle feels great in the hand and is very comfortable to hold and read with. It is lighter than most books and easier to hold because you don't have to bother with holding back pages.

The screen is incredible!! It blows my mind! I had never seen a kindle and i had imagined how the screen would be but it is even more paper-like than i imagined. Absolutely amazing!

A lot of people (who don't have the pleasure of owning a kindle) seem to be confused or put-off by the fact that it is not back-lit or that there is no color. If you're looking for something that does everything than the kindle is not for you. The kindle is a replacement for hard-copy books so that is its only purpose. Personally, I want it to be as much like a book as possible and i think it fulfills that. When i'm reading i feel like i'm looking at paper and holding a book. I can buy almost any book i can think of wherever i am and lighting fast. If your goal is to read, than what else could you possibly want from an e-reading than that?

Thank you, thank you, thank you Amazon for a great product AND for fast and secure international shipping AND for FREE international 3G! I couldn't be more satisfied!

Kindle

This is an easy to use product, much preferable to a hard cover, and somewhat preferable to a soft cover.
It is especially convenient when traveling.

Why didn't you include a light? Might make it a five star.

New Kindle Owner

I bought this Kindle for my husband on Father's Day. I can't begin to express how much he loves his Kindle! Four years ago he had a sudden stroke which left him with aphasia. He is a highly educated man ,but the stroke affected his speech and reading skills. With the Kindle, he has the option for text to speech if he gets stumped on a word. He loves this and even started to read a novel, the first in four years! He won't leave home without it!!

reviewing Kindle

Kindle is great. I haven't put it down since I got it. Downloads are easy and so far, there's too much to choose from.
I am reading more and loving it. The only thing missing is a clock!

LOVES Kindles

This is my third Kindle, no it didn't wear out, when the Kindle 2nd generation came out I got one and gave my first one to one of my daughters. When the price came down so dramatically I ordered another one and gave the 2nd one to my other daughter. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, my daughter says I could be a spokesman for Kindle.
